In my opinion, English dubs of Japanese media have the potential to be very good, but it all comes down to the powers that be deciding how good it's allowed to get. Neptunia and Death End reQuest have more-than-decent dubs and both have a lot of great VAs...or used to. Some characters could have had a better casting because they do sound a little too old for the character they're lending their voice to, but nonetheless: The talent is there, it's just that the direction and funding (or lack thereof) can take a serious toll on the overall quality of the dub.

That being said, English VAs are whores about how much they're paid, despite not even anywhere near close to the same league as Japanese VAs who often soak up the overall budget for these games to begin with. I've also gone out on a tangent many times here in the past on how some VAs only play favorites and need to fuck off out of the industry. The current English voice actress for Vert and Rom is a whore. Her previous actress was much better, and could play all of Vert's line without flinching, but she's gone away with the Union now, because again, whoring for pay. Same thing for Noire's former English VA, though I never liked her voice to begin with and am glad she's been done away with.

You also have politically correct bullshit getting in the way of better talent. DERQ comes to mind for this with Arata's English VA, who did what I thought was a fantastic job for the first game but did not get cast again for the second game due to some personal allegations bullshit that had absolutely nothing to do with their field of work. English dubs could be great, it's just that the localizers don't want to spend all the money on making it great, either on seeking out the perfect talent or bribing VAs for their best performance, unlike what the Japanese do when making/voicing the games to begin with.
