Does anyone know if the highly awaited modding project, "Skyrim: Extended Cut", has been cancelled/turned into vaporware?

I've been really looking forward to it for years, as it's one of the few meaningful mods that would have changed the game, unlike the usual NPC makeover mods.
But, there's been no communication for months from the team, and it's looking grim.

I usually stick to /v/ but my threads there died. Does anyone here have any insight? Skyrim will be such a worse game if it doesn't get that mod which fixes Emil's dogshit writing.
