You like Archie Sonic?
The Penders era was a little too “out of the box” for my taste. But when Issue #160 came out in 2006, I think it really came into its own, storywise and artistically. The comic has a clear, crisp vision, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the ideas and concepts a big boost. It's been compared to Fleetway, but I think Archie has a far more grounded and closer relationship to the games.
In 2013, Archie released this; the Post Genesis Reboot, their most accomplished endeavor. I think their undisputed masterpiece is the Shattered World Crisis. A storyline so ambitious, most people probably don't pay deeper attention to the story. But they should, because it's not just about the need for a fresh beginning or the complexity of tying the series more closely together. It's also a personal statement about the Sonic brand itself. HEY IAN!
