It's night and day experiencing the kids whose parents treat them like retarded gremlins, and the kids whose parents treat them as intelligent but inexperienced.

[spoiler]While having a cook-out with a friend's family, we made grilled veggie kebabs and asparagus to go with the rest of the meal. My friend's kid immediately complained about veggies while my friend tried to bribe them with ice cream afterwards to get them to eat it. My kids followed suit, saying they didn't want to eat it either. I asked my kids why, and all of the kids stated that veggies are gross. I told them I agreed, I think veggies are gross too, and started eating the kebabs and veggies exclusively. When they asked me why I would eat something gross, I told replied that even though they're gross, they're good for me, and it's important to eat things, and even do things, we don't enjoy because it's good for us. My kids eventually sampled the veggies and were surprised they were "pretty okay", and then my friend's kid followed suit without needing to be bribed anymore.[/spoiler]
