Bungie was going to drop 4v4 and BTB multiplayer as it existed in CE and Max Hoberman stepped in to advocate for those and had to save them, and since the rest of Bungie was so focused on fixing the iffy development of the campaign, they just let Max and like one other guy handle the multiplayer entirely and then rest of the studio never got around to making Warfare lmao
Jason wanted a big 32-player mode, but after a year it was still just an idea on paper, because he was distracted deving everything but H2, (the more things change)
Max Hoberman begged for resources and built “the party game” we now know as H2/H3/Reach multiplayer.
