I like how Tsurumaki's tone towards Deux. In a lesser anime, they would have gone whole hog over the tragedy of such a young kid being engineered for war and dying pointlessly. In GQX, the tone is, it happened, the universe doesn't care, it's not fair but who gives a fuck. This is reinforced by returning to Machu, who the universe very much cares for, and her Shuji withdrawal is portrayed sympathetically. It's the typical subversion you would expect from Khara.
