I can't say as I'm a very new Commander only player since 2024 (started with Outlaws of Thunder Junction).
The first ever set I bought a pack for was Zendikar Rising (good set).
Since I've been playing the game a year now, visiting /tg/ edh threads and playing, I kind of love the older classic cards better. They had such style and interesting designs.
I just play Commander twice a week with my disability support group and we are mostly casual bracket 1-2 decks. I love it.
I can see why older players say the game is declining from its original fanbase and how it was. Universes Beyond is kind of making them a lot of money but also alienating the old fans and ruining the core system of magic itself.
I think the rest of the year being two UB sets in a row is downright bad.
