I just realized we're meant to eat our rice mainly with forks or chopsticks. Except for fried rice and soup dishes, of course. Our rice is different from Indian/curry rice. It's sticky enough to pick up with forks or chopsticks, and eating with a spoon just to scoop the food is an overkill, because then it'd be harder to tear or stab the food like the fork. So, if you want to eat with only one utensil, it's better to pick the fork rather than the spoon (unless it's soup or fried rice).
