Getting work in Tokyo is tough unless you're willing to work for some dogturd companies. Surrounding regions are more manageable. Personally, I've spent enough time in Tokyo and can't stand it. Give me my cozy countryside where I stick out like a sore thumb, although I actually live in one of the few rare regions of Japan that as a sizeable immigrant population (that's not from an Asian country).
Oh, and the only cozy thing about teaching English here is that the job is largely a joke with minimal responsibility. It's a work vacation in every sense.
