The US doesnt want to move manufacturing from China to India so they don't create another China. They also don't want another hedge money competitor. China doesn't want another India to get stronger and take their place.
There's no reason india should trust either they should just keep doing what they're doing which is playing all sides and and trusting neutral parties relative to them like Russia dn the philipines.
