The Predator is basically the opposite of an Alien because with the xeno, it's so hard to construct what's going on in there
Is it a bug? Is it a robot? Does it even have "thoughts" in any way we would recognize?

Meanwhile the Predator is clearly a person. A psychotically violent eight foot tall person from another planet, but a mindset absolutely comprehensible to humans. When the Alien Queen pushes the elevator button you think "How the fuck did she do that?" When the Predator starts laughing and tries to blow himself up you can grasp exactly why, it's kind of scary and funny and thrilling to connect with the moment as a viewer

Alien Earth seems to be playing around with this theory of consciousness too. Wendy absolutely thinks like a human being, Kirsh does not, and so far Morrow is the mystery about how his brain ticks.

It's such a rich sci-fi concept because in real life we have no frame of reference for consciousness except our own, and even that is flawed because each of us only truly has a single example to extrapolate from. But from empathy and observation, even smart animals like dogs and monkeys seem to just be operating on a diminished version of human consciousness, like a computer with less ram and a slower cpu.
