I hate to defend this dumb shit, but that part was also possibly a response to the /co/ trolling, with the guy's online name being literally altrightpepe or someshit who "infiltrated and betrayed us". I think they also reference the trolling in the Carol Danvers comic in some panel where Carol complains she was trying to rent the movie Room and watched The Room instead.
