>What makes a comic superhero capeshit or capekino?
It's an ironic term and people will use it to bash the superhero genre as a whole but my personal metrics are:
>Cape Shit
1) Unfunny quips thrown at you every minute because the author doesn't believe in the source material.
2) Inconsistent tone the story wants to be taken seriously but also turn off your brain, the defenders of capeshit can't decide if the story is modern mythology or simple popcorn entertainment and will alternate between those points of view sometimes in the same conversation.
3) Over reliance on visual spectacle and flair to the exclusion of everything else.
>Cape Kino
1) The author obviously believes in the source material lets the story play out naturally with a good balance of serious and humorous moments.
2) Consistent themes, the story knows what it's about and it communicates these ideas in an interesting and engaging way. The moments that are supposed to hit hard actually do.
3) Smart use of visual effects that enhances the story rather than dragging it down.
