I suppose it's reasonable if it's drilled well enough to not distract them from the job of stopping the target, e.g. take a quick shot at the legs if seems doable, but immediately aim for the center of mass without pausing to wonder if you hit or not.
If the target keeps moving, just fire again. If he drops, maybe another shot isn't needed.

I can think of a third example, the 2017 Turku stabbing attack:
