A house cat has 1/2 as many neurons in its cerebral cortex as a chihuahua in addition to having smaller frontal lobes. They are mind-bogglingly stupid animals and can happily live in a 500sqft apartment for their entire life.
It has also been proven many times that cats are incapable of routing a rodent infestation. Instead, they alter rodent behavior so rodents without toxoplasmosis hide more effectively and only sick or injured rodents (usually with toxoplasmosis) get eaten. This has the odd effect of removing a cat causing an immediate flood of rodents - because they were already there, just hiding.
There is never any sane reason to refuse to neuter cats and keep them indoors.
So why do cat people still let cats outside to kill animals, destroy nature, and spread a disease that literally kills babies? I just looked it up and cats can effectively transmit black plague from rats to humans. Crazy.
