DESU it depends on what kind of crop he's selling. If it's a largely automated crop like wheat of course that's the case, but for something like fruit where you're valuing the cost of him picking it my price as a worker is actually just around 4 times the amount I pick, or for something like apples (you just put the apples in the bag) it's higher because those are easier to pick.
For something like wheat where you have extremely advanced and efficient production systems you are actually only talking about 100 dollars per acre profit per year. If you're talking hand-picked peppers at a farmer's market the numbers are much more favorable, maybe just selling a couple peppers.
