Powercreep is very slow, but characters have strong synergies so for a character to work you might really need their BiS and weapon for them to compete in the meta (not the case with augusta though, since she can use a 4*, but her bis is still iuno). I've been doing well with encore + lupa for example, but you need a stringmaster for encore lupa's weapon plus shorekeeper help as well for them to stay competitive. Though we are talking about a standard character and a support that isn't at her best (without full fusion team)
