Assuming all of those interviews were being conducted by Kamiki, and not just the last one with Aqua, you could reasonably assume that Kamiki or Akane would be smart enough to not want to be in a room alone with the other.

It wasn't dogcrap, but it was definitely much weaker. It just mostly went into panel by panel adaptation of the manga, while the first season had some great direction moments.
