Personally I like what they're going for here, it's in a similar vein as Biden's Caligula path but more grounded. Whereas Caligula Biden is a Biden who has just completely lost his mind and is no longer himself, American Carnage Trump is still Trump, just all of his worst qualities untethered and his determination through the roof.
