Didn't realise there was a thread like this, I've been using AI (and paint.net, really should invest in clip studio) to make sequences and faux-doujins for a while now. Should I post the full things or just a few pages with a link to the rest? Would stitching them together and making a huge jpg be preferable? I've got several that are about 15 pages each, seems a bit much to post all that.

Reference controlnet at a low weight, 0.1 to 0.2, I've found helps a lot. Specifically reference only, not adain/attn, and always have 'my prompt is more important' on. When trying to get a consistent "original character" I'll generate a bunch of different angles and practically make a character sheet to then use in reference. It's never perfect, you're gonna need to edit various things, but that happens even with established characters. Pic related shows different angles of the same character with a mostly consistent face and outfit which I found reference helped with (the panelling is a bit embarrassing to look back at, though).

In your case however where only the head is kept the same I'd highly recommend using img2img inpainting, which you generally want to be using on faces and hands anyway.
