I think XBC games are just for specific kind of audience.
First had lots of passionate fans wanting it released in west. X was excellent for Wii U. 2 was one of the earlier games for Switch so it sold fuckton, but I know many people who bought it but didn't care much in the end. Me included.
3 just didn't have same drive from the getgo and people have more than enough vidya they play on Switch already. People tend to ignore that part about current gaming landscape that has been changing towards live service anchors and people barely have time, or money, to buy new games nonstop.
Not gonna comment on XBC3 as I haven't played it, but it didn't seem to have the same kind of impact and release as XBC2.
