Lego has it all.
better than most companies

as long as there are a few small sets, they will be child-accessible. Uncle Cheapo can get his nephew or niece a Lego as a birthday gift. it might even have a Spider-Man or Star Wars in it!

and that Uncle is more likely to want to hook the kids into having a common interest. Hey, if I have to watch my sister's kids, we might as well have Legos.

having said that, I'm also furious with the downward spiral into $400+ sets. it's INSANE to think any child is getting the Hobbit Town to "play with" nobody is fooling anybody. 90% of Lego is too expensive for KIDS. no kid is saving his allowance for a few weeks, to buy the new Boba Fett Starship. it's too expensive for that.

I would love to watch Lego get a humble-ing. but those rich fans are not helping at all.

the real solution is competition. Lego has a magical mind control on its fans. if some other (good) block company was on the shelf, it might be a whole different game.
