Bruh do not get me going, I can and have written up essays bitching about the utter and embarrassing state of science fiction. It's not even that unique, it's all the usual suspects mutating it into the same old muh identity masturbation with the Burger King club sidekicks and the strawman villains and not allowing anything else to exist. It's the sheer scale of the devastation at play here, just how far standards have fallen and how obliterated the sales and fanbases are for scifi stuff new and old.
The fact that Star War and Star Trek, two very different franchises with very different tone, intent, influences, aesthetics, and audiences, are so undermined by the homogenous and interchangable "people" running things that I could post screenshots of both of them mixed together and you'd have no idea they were from different franchise or know which belongs to which without lightsaber or enterprise in frame. That's the level of shit we're dealing with... at it's highest level. Take that, strip out the franchise appeal built over decades by their betters, downgrade writing ability to about fifth grade if not less, and you've got print fiction scifi. "Enjoy".
Oh and before any bluehairs start copypasting their utterly predicable and homogenous insults at me, Xenogenesis/Lilith's Brood. Nig woman writer writing about nig woman MC with identity as a core theme, and it's hard scifi written competently with genuinely alien aliens who literally cannot think and process things like humans do and at times feels like Cronenberg co-wrote it. It's not burger king club can't do scifi, it's YOU LOT can't do ANYTHING because you've never had anything resembling a life experience that would give you perspective on the world outside of your surface-level identity label you need to be distinguishable from the grey goo you are in your soul.
...Intended to say "I could say so much but I won't" but I'm not deleting a word of this out of spite for the scifi cesspit.
Fuck
