I'm assuming this is Stellaris.

Minor note; I love the concept of adorable, colorful, squeaky little fairy buggo friends...but when you turn on the universal translator, they're the most obnoxious, racist, lecherous, cantankerous, vitriolic little assholes in the galaxy.

>>8935778
I like the idea of a macroorganism (think the forest in Oregon, USA that's been around some 60-odd thousand years) that manifests an avatar or proxy to interact with squishier, fleeting lifeforms.

So, y'know, Spriggan waifu, though that could also be flexible depending on how they choose to appear.

Hey I'm trying to find a story that was posted on here a while ago.

It was a interspecies story that took place on a medieval world. The main guy had a message from a king for a different race that lived in a large forest and I believe it was an insect girl he first met. It was on Ao3 and linked here. Can't remember the title but I can remember a few of thenbits of the begining

Funny enough the story I’m writing is basically the role reverse of this, a galactic empire vs. a stagnant and circularly self-destructive humanity that should’ve been on or near the same level as them.
Although “vs.” is generous. It was a curbstomp event.

It's certainly much more aware of the stakes. Humanity's plight is moved front and center and framed much more sympathetically. The villainy is driven by desperation and zealotry born from their situation then some childish misanthropic condemnation of humanity/advanced cultures. And it does still while keeping the aliens as the sympathetic focus, because they don't deserve to be invaded and other things I won't spoil.

Messing around in Stellaris makes me kinda wish that there was more stuff out there involving xenos of lower tech level then average that's still above spear-chucker, which seems to be the standard in most fiction when they're not a spacefaring civ. Also made me wish you could do more with them in the games but I digress.
Tried to think of example of what I want and the closest I could get is an aging RTS called Grey Goo, where the aliens have a very industrial look to more or less our current tech level while humanity has the sleek futuristic architecture and floating drones.

However, the children are raised communally within the clan, and don't explicitly know who their father is, I think to prevent blood feuds. This is Doctor Derek Manse, Research director at Cascade. A member of the janitorial staff was caught deleting sensitive information on our local network. Our first guess was, of course, sabotage, but we have no records from accounting of this man ever recieving a paycheck. Indeed, the very concept of payment seems to confuse him during interrogation. Even more peculiar, he refuses to, or can't, eat any food offered to him... Except for chicken nuggets and Hot Pockets. I'm sure the idea of free staff is tantalizing to GATE, but until we know more about this "Janitor," I have no choice but to recommend IS containment.

>How do you guys feel about humans being able to breed with xenos?
Hard science fiction route preferred. (Because extreme realism is a daydream cope for knowing we'll all die of old age before we meet actual aliens)

Unfortunately, actual reproduction that produces new quasi-species hybrid children would have to involve genetic engineering of a technical level beyond what could be imagined or measured accurately right now.

Best we could do RIGHT NOW, is: It won't produce any sort of mystery-meat halfways human, halfways alien "blended features" product of a new species unto itself... It would probably just be a "normal" child of whichever of the species involved produces the children, as a sort of clone of the mother with some distinguishing existent trait that gets modified to match the father's trait, even if that trait is atypical or synthetic for the mother's species.
Example: If the alien mother species has only short hair that goes through cycles of baldness and regrowth, the "hybrid child" could be genetically modified to: A. not go bald (unless the human father is. lol.) B. have the body hold onto the hair follicles longer or permanently C. make the hair follicles never stop producing the hair D. change the hair pigmentation to match the human father E. change the intensity of pigmentation to match the father's skin value... etc etc.

tl;dr
If the aliens' species has 10 limbs, it's probably not realistic to totally reinvent the body plan from a genetic level to be closer to human... But giving the child a human hair pigmentation when the only hair color the alien species normally has is silver, could be possible.

Hello all, AurumVerd here. I am happy to say that the rough draft of the sequel to Surrender, Surrender, my first work, is finally done! Though there is a long way to go before I begin uploading, as I still need to do some revision, lots of proofreading and would definitely like to get some art made for the story (as well as for the first one), I am glad to say it's done (in its rawest form)! Needless to say, this took a lot longer than the first one, partially due to the increased story length, but also due to it going though more revisions in the planning stage. I always had the main idea in mind, but the details took a while to work out. Still, I hope to get it uploaded as soon as possible. Thanks anons.

Think about the life cycle. How many kids? One or two at a time, like us? A litter like a dog? A fuckton like a spider? Consider the titty logistics.

I've been thinking about something like this with Enid's species. Since I've drawn her with breasts and nipples in the past, I had the idea of invoking some amphibian weirdness. Females lay eggs in mud that develop into tadpole-like larva. As they go through their metamorphosis to the biped stage, the mother begins to develop breasts to supplement the developing young. When they are big enough to handle hard food, the mother's body transitions back to its breastless state.

I had finally finished reading Autumn War: Volume One. Overall, it was a decent read. The drawbacks are the whiplashes between separate stories & the entirety of Group B (marines/jade). The only good parts with Group B were the fights against the Bugs.

Outside of that, I have several minor gripes but the largest one would be the constant buffet that Group A seem to have. I wish that Group B's parts would have been replaced by flashbacks of Xipa's flock. Or at the very least, Vos or perhaps even Jaeger & his group since they were at least referenced.

I'm looking forward to Volume 2. Though, I'm probably going to skim Group B's side this time around.

Bruh do not get me going, I can and have written up essays bitching about the utter and embarrassing state of science fiction. It's not even that unique, it's all the usual suspects mutating it into the same old muh identity masturbation with the Burger King club sidekicks and the strawman villains and not allowing anything else to exist. It's the sheer scale of the devastation at play here, just how far standards have fallen and how obliterated the sales and fanbases are for scifi stuff new and old.
The fact that Star War and Star Trek, two very different franchises with very different tone, intent, influences, aesthetics, and audiences, are so undermined by the homogenous and interchangable "people" running things that I could post screenshots of both of them mixed together and you'd have no idea they were from different franchise or know which belongs to which without lightsaber or enterprise in frame. That's the level of shit we're dealing with... at it's highest level. Take that, strip out the franchise appeal built over decades by their betters, downgrade writing ability to about fifth grade if not less, and you've got print fiction scifi. "Enjoy".
Oh and before any bluehairs start copypasting their utterly predicable and homogenous insults at me, Xenogenesis/Lilith's Brood. Nig woman writer writing about nig woman MC with identity as a core theme, and it's hard scifi written competently with genuinely alien aliens who literally cannot think and process things like humans do and at times feels like Cronenberg co-wrote it. It's not burger king club can't do scifi, it's YOU LOT can't do ANYTHING because you've never had anything resembling a life experience that would give you perspective on the world outside of your surface-level identity label you need to be distinguishable from the grey goo you are in your soul.
...Intended to say "I could say so much but I won't" but I'm not deleting a word of this out of spite for the scifi cesspit.

A little vague, but I hope you'll humor me a little. Outside of snekguy, not many people seem to have the time to write as much as him, but people STILL write enough to have something to talk about. Short 5k chapters can still be discussion worthy but chats about those that don't happen here anyway. So how much do you need to gauge whether the material is interesting, especially if it's not longform stories? Furthermore, what do you mean by "self-indulgent?" That there's too much smut or that it's all too niche? Because this is a hobby space, it's all self-indulgent, even pinwheel. These threads may not as active as they used to be (and truthfully, weren't that much alive years ago either), but coming here to post oc of any kind has not been as engaging as it used to be. If you want to foster more creative posting, speak out about it. Talk about it. Because what's the point in sharing something if it isn't fun.

A race of hexapodal quadropeds that ruled over their homesystem, having become a Type-2 civilization and subjugating other local sophonts. Their tyrannical reign lasted around, for at most, 10,000 years, before ultimately falling apart and becoming extinct for several hundred years, becoming a Lazarus species from being resurrected by a failsafe activated by a Terran scouting fleet that visited and explored some ruins. And this powerful, newly resurrected civilization gradually began to regrow, less tyrannical and bloodthirsty than their frightful ancestors, but still faced understandable prejudice from the other native races of their star system, especially the Mogor, former livestock and labor forces who evolved on the same planet together as predator and prey.
They possess xygoldactyl feet/hands, two limbs of which are used exclusively as legs with the feet having secondarily evolved into a more pamprodactyl digitigrade configuration. This is why the claws on the outer toes are reversed compared to the inner toes. They can still grasp stuff, which is very handy when climbing.
During mating season, they'll often perform rituals, the most notable and popular one being ball-like events where they'd congregate in large numbers, reaching at least several hundred individual, adorning personalized masks in the style of their "house"/"tribe". A head/lord Vladactyl will be engaged with multiple mates dubbed as "brides". Males and females differ notably in their ears, with males having ridged brow crested ears and females having a split fin.
Interestingly, as discovered firsthand by the Terrans, the biochemical makeup of Terran Hemoglobin has a strong alcoholic effect on Vladactyls, which can render them inebriated, thus spawning a culture of blood-drinking.
Pictured here is a male lord just chilling and enjoying some AB+ whilst cuddling with his harem of brides, along with a lil size comp sketch showing one being interviewed by a female human sophontologist.

At this point even if MD releases V3 it won't be worth the years waiting for it. It's a shame too, the game was great, but MD's poor planning, lack of transparency and procrastination killed the game's momentum and the majority of the fans forgotten about it or thinks it's dead. I know at this point he considers game making a hobby, but I've seen other hobby developers complete games with higher production quality in less time than Teraurge. That said Xeno themed nsfw games are rare and niche ass hell and untill someone else starts making them MD holds the monopoly still and probably one of the few reasons he still has people donating to his patreon despite not even working on art regularly anymore let alone the game.

It's not even the nsfw stuff that I liked I was really enamored by the surprising intricate worldbuilding. It looked like an exotic medley blend of Kenshi, Oddworld and Morrowind all grinded up making something really unique and creative. It's such a shame the full potential was squandered, I would have loved to explore this setting seeing all these different tiers of civilizations all existing together from tribal savages, industrialist conglomolerates and house dagoth tier mystagogues.

I've been keeping up with "The Howler from the Void" for a while, and it's just fantastic.
I really enjoy language stuff, so a large focus being: figuring out the howlers language, while also throwing the reader straight into the scent based communication of the insect aliens in medias res, and letting the reader slowly figure out the meanings of the different words on their own from the story's context clues, 'Darmok and Jalad' style, is right up my alley!
Gripping story with a bunch of interesting and very different characters that one can relate to in various ways on all the different sides of the conflict.

The author does great stuff, and if one really likes bug aliens, and don't mind if the big, juicy abdomen is attached to a cute alien boy, I greatly recommend his "unprofessional" series. They are a similarly great read, but significantly more horny.

nearly all mammals have prepuces or 'penile sheathes'. Humans are the weird ones for having it be a relatively small foreskin at the end of their dick instead of covering the entire length.

making an upright rhinoceros species and then slapping a regular human dick on it is faggot shit.
