No. St. George's association with the moon is an entirely original Brazilian thing. It began when afro-brazilian religions such as Candomblé began associating St. George with one of their own deities, which in turn was associated with the moon. St. George was then, by proxy, associated with the moon as well.
Strangely enough, the correlation made its way back to the Christian side of faith and permeated Brazil's pop culture too. Most Christians in Brazil associate St. George with the moon without knowing that.
