Long story short, Prof. 9 (a well-known modder in the MMBN community) actually talked about this a few years ago and even modded the game to show the cutscene in question. You can see it in action in this video:

The only online post mentioning Gold Mr. Prog anywhere on the internet was also written by him, and as far as I can tell, he’s the only person who’s ever found it. I trust the guy, but it’s still super weird that I’ve never managed to find Gold Mr. Prog myself despite having multiple playthroughs
So yeah, I’m just wondering if anyone out there has ever encountered him on real hardware with no mods. Or maybe there’s some obscure condition that needs to be met for him to spawn? It’s driving me a little nuts desu.
