In any case, I don't think Hollow Knight is a game that "doesn't click", I think it's a game that some people just really want to hate because they saw other people hyping the shit out of it. See also:

You will often hear words like "overrated", "slop", and "okay" thrown around to describe them. If they bothered to play the game but still wanted to find a reason to hate it, it'd be "it's just okay, I don't know why it's so overrated", but if it's something they've never played because it's on another console, it'll be some variation of "slop" like "Ubislop" to describe BotW or "rollslop" to describe Elden Ring.
