Taken can mean arrested. Jesus was partially alluding to his own arrest and possibly the arrest of his followers. There is probably an alternate timeline where Jesus caused a riot and half of his followers got arrested. Many prophecies never happened and can't happen now but could have had history gone in a different direction. This is why Jesus' martyrdom is a big deal. He saved his followers when he told Peter to put his sword down. It was the future outcome with the least bloodshed once Judas chose to betray Jesus right then and there. Although later many Christians got whacked by Pharisees in the following decades. So it did come true before the Romans even started persecuting Christians. Christians interpreted Matthew 24:40 a different way for 1800 years. Suddenly have a new religious interpretation after Freemasonry exists. Sounds suspect.
