This movie reminded me how even one-off P1 characters like Nomo were interesting. You only saw them for a couple of minutes or panels, but you cared about them. Then you had Makima, Power, Aki, Himeno, Beam, Angel, Kishibe, Kobeni, Tendo, Kurose, Akane, Shadman, Quanxi, Cosmo and the rest of her fiend girlfriends, Yoshida, and Reze. P1's cast was great.

Fujimoto tried to recpature that in P2 with characters like Nayuta, Yuko, Haruka, Seigi, Kobeni's sissy brother, and... Nail fiend, but failed miserably. Characters I could not bring myself to care about. Yuko at least had a bit of depth to her, but even her arc is an acquired taste. Nayuta had potential but Fujimoto killed her off for shock value. Yoshida was a nothingburger. Asa is probably the best character to come out of this whole mess and even that’s a point of contention among fans. Yoru is just Makima 2.0 and her ability to turn people into weapons was stolen from Angel.

P2 is so soulless and barren when compared to P1.
