This movie reminded me how even one-off P1 characters like Nomo were interesting. You only saw them for a couple of minutes or panels, but you cared about them. Then you had Makima, Power, Aki, Himeno, Beam, Angel, Kishibe, Kobeni, Tendo, Kurose, Akane, Shadman, Quanxi, Cosmo and the rest of her fiend girlfriends, Yoshida, and Reze. P1's cast was great.

Fujimoto tried to recpature that in P2 with characters like Nayuta, Yuko, Haruka, Seigi, Kobeni's sissy brother, and... Nail fiend, but failed miserably. Characters I could not bring myself to care about. Yuko at least had a bit of depth to her, but even her arc is an acquired taste. Nayuta had potential but Fujimoto killed her off for shock value. Yoshida was a nothingburger. Asa is probably the best character to come out of this whole mess and even that’s a point of contention among fans. Yoru is just Makima 2.0 and her ability to turn people into weapons was stolen from Angel.

P2 is so soulless and barren when compared to P1.

I think part 2 cast is weaker in comparison but still leaps above what average manga has to offer. Part 1 is an exceptionally well executed piece which has rich themes, and that's different for part 2. Because Fujimoto is unable to grasp the new storytelling style he wanted to use. Character moments are still entertaining, they're shallow but still have the nonsensical charm Fujimoto's writing has. Asa especially is a gem when considered how Fujimoto has refused to overuse her throughout the story, some argue it's caused her to be underdeveloped and neglected, and I can agree to that sentiment, but I think Fujimoto as a writer has more grit than to waste Asa over something so insignificant. Yoru is for all reasons, the most refined evil female character Fujimoto has written, he never let's her be too threatening, manages to keep her enjoyable in her own way. Personally I love Asa, and I wish part 2 had extensive focus on her, but I also think Fujimoto has been holding up the crucial set pieces to form a crescendo which will help Asa develop more fully. Both parts have a different approach, I think it's alright.

I have my own criticisms of Part 2 vs where Part 1 succeeded so well, but it's really telling when even in my small circle of nip friends who love CSM, one of them was calmly expressing how Part 2 just doesn't feel as nicely put together as Part 1 and they were wondering if the various scheduling shifts and staff changes under had an effect on Tatsuki's writing. Of course they wrapped it off saying the usual Japanese politeness of "well I guess if he's making what he likes then that's that and I look forward to seeing the rest of it" but it's telling when no one in our group objected to their sentiments.

The birds, Bucky, Yoru, and Asa. One of beloved by many and accidentally killed by Asa, which resulted in Asa's own death after being forced to suffer through judgement and guilt. Yoru comes in and abuses Asa's body and emotions, every step of the way. Right now, that role of the beloved Bucky is being fulfilled by CSM, while Asa and Yoru are still the same. Back then Asa accidentally killed Bucky, this time she will make the difference and save CSM. I don't know how Asa is going to accomplish that, but I know she won't survive this.

Okay so I finally got back from the movie with my friend. Me, well I'm a reze fan so I liked the shit out of the movie, weirdly I like the used of red lighting when it shows up. Read reze arc like million times. Friend, only knows about chainsaw man and Reze cause I like never shut the fuck up about it and his other friend talks about chainsaw man. He liked, cause some moments of Denji being a retard and the action were entertaining to him. He said that the first half of the movie up to the Jane lullaby felt like "soft core porn", "fucked up live story", and "the action was like DBZ". He also found the idea of the season one director getting booted to Roblox funny.

The Reze movie was amazing but I was shocked at the lack of Asa/Yoru in it.

The scene from the last chapter reminded me of Asa and Yuko's goodbye. It ended with Yuko getting killed by CSM, and Yoru and Pochita are repeatedly killing each other, so either Asa or Denji are dying. Part of me still hopes for a bodyswap plotline, but I think Fujimoto already has decided who he wants dead.

I actually didn't like her in the beginning. Felt like she's just getting dragged around by Yoru, and had to deal with humiliating moments. I started loving her when she saved Yuko. Not because it's heroic or entertaining, but because she did it for such a personal reason. That kind of selfishness, and her wish to express herself but also afraid of being seen is very dear to me. Her silliness never fails to make my heart warm. I also had a few online friends who liked talking about Asa, we shared fan art and played games together until the end of falling devil arc. And since then my wishes to see her happy have only grown stronger. Asa deserves it. Doesn't help that everywhere I go people are either mocking her or just hate her, makes me realize what I feel for Asa is that much more precious. Doomschizo...Charlie has been a big CSM fan for a long time. Don't be delusional. The way he reviewed the movie and went in-depth into explaining Denji's character and why he acts the way he does already proves that he cares about CSM beyond just a surface level.

Just got back from seeing the movie. Holy fucking shit. That was insanely kino. Everything was absolutely perfect. Every bit of animation. Every bit of direction. It was everything Season 1 wanted to be but better. I have nothing to nitpick whatsoever.
