Yes, that does sound similar. They're extremely popular and common in Sweden, like almost everyone makes these at home and school as a kid.
As for the saffron buns, I legitimately have never had anything more delicious. You just can't stop eating them, they're addictive. The day I make them I can easily eat like 8 or so in an hour or two. The sweet almond, vanilla and cardamom with the soft saffron bun just go so perfectly well together. Definitely 10/10 pastry
