Dan Wesson is the definition of mid range. Savage has started making 1911s in their range. Springfield TRP is in that range as well. S&W performance center exists but I have no experience.
Many anons like their Dan Wesson Specialists, I have recently bought one in 10mm, 300 rounds with no real issues other than 1 failure to return fully into battery which the manual says that could happen in the break in period. The thumb safety did have a slight issue where its plate was poking out but I replaced the thumb safety since I don’t like Ambi safeties
