Welp, looks like I'll have to bring octane back to /hg/ OP's
>>63825425Wow so exciting, you cleaned the one gun you own and shoot a couple times a year.
>>63825425Sorry, I wanted to post about a gun people paid 1200 for a few years ago is now currently only 833 dollars you ugly fuck

- RANGE REPORT -
Cycled weak range ammo [ZSR and CBC 115gr] with 20lb slide spring [OEM spec is 17lb] successfully. Trijicon GL01 "night" sights zeroed at 15 yards with silhouette. Will be confirming out to 50, 100 or 200 yards in the future
>>63825438That's not what the next OP's going to be about, baka anon-kun
>>63825439Ackchyually, this is a gunsooming general. Beretta anons will take great pride in having over spent by $367+
>>63825477I see you dont want to change to make people like you, good luck with that bucko.
Granules
md5: 625f8e2d87b5e5b208c85c88808b4f60
🔍
It cycled reliably, but these granules were spewed everywhere and I suspect the cause is the ZSR ammo which happens to be my first ever use of if memory serves well. You would think unburnt powder everywhere symptomatic of sub-NATO loads in general but CBC [import branded as Magtech] doesn't seem to have this issue. Getting the stuff on your hands is like having dried sweat on your palms. It might have just been the lot but I won't be purchasing again and don't recommend for anyone else unless you have a sub-carbine or SMG with more bore to burn more grain
>>638254811. My redemption arc isn't about being liked. It's about doing the right thing which is why I directed anons to the thread for your incompetent/lazy arse after allowing three (3) underwhelming OP's for the sake of /hg/ variety
2. Banter is healthy for general culture, you don't belong here if it upsets you
>>63825625Higher pressire ammo should burn better which should avoid granulate everywhere. Maybe its just low quality powder or just too low burn rate. Going to range now, looks like i cant buy more than 2 guns at once, so 6months delay will kick in

>>63826257Its delicious though. I got it in a gifted assortment of imported beers and tsingtao was easily one of the best of the asian imports in a close second to the Sapporo I got
>>63825409 (OP)I have a dumb question. I'm zeroing an RDS for the first time using a laser bore sight. I had the RDS sighted by putting the reticle above the front sight post, similar to where the POI would be if I was using iron sights, but the laser bore sight is pretty off compared to where the RDS reticle is. Why is that? Shouldn't the iron sights and the bore sight have a reasonably similar POI?
>>63826319To add, I haven't zeroed it at the range yet. Just fuckin around with it in my basement.
>>63826190Hopefully the PPK blows your head off next time it has a premature detonation
>>63826319Maybe your bore laser is junk. I wouldn't but too much weight into the bore laser. The best way to zero a pistol red dot is to align it with your irons, like you did, and then take it to the range and adjust it. Ideally you can be seated and rest the handgun on a rest to help remove any human error inputs.
>>63826299Weird historical fact;
That brewery was founded by Imperial Germany as the Germania Brewery in 1903.
Back when the city of Qingdao was known as Kiautschou, and it was property of the Kaiser.
Still, the Thais make better beer.
I'd recommend Chang or Shinga if you want a light lager-type beer from Asia.
The nippons make some decent beer too.
>>63826319Could be a couple of reasons, sights being centered in the slide doesn't mean they're zeroed so the irons may need adjustment. For me, my eyes are broken enough that zeroing a dot and irons independently doesn't always end up stacking them; my eye aberrations will force the dot to appear elsewhere when looking at the sights and vice versa. Or like anon said maybe the laser is crap
>>63826342NTA how do they compare to Modelo?
>>63826337>>63826351Ok cool. I'm going to the range this weekend to hopefully get it dialed in.

>>63826333My gun is too well engineered and tuned to have a squib blowup
Also I’ve got a pre ban French PPK on the way
>>63826380Your gun chokes on weak ammo now lmfao.
I neglected to mention the "primer drag" on my spent cartridges. Assholes would have you believe this a timing issue as if the slide-chamber seal is compromised by shoddy design/manufacture because pressing down on the chamber with a thumb will tilt it slightly. This doesn't happen during live fire because the force of expanding gas is coaxial and the barrel wont begin to unlock until after the bullet has already left: https://youtu.be/L8hErYN82LM
The keyhole shaped marks on the primer here are simply a result of the firing pin remaining protruded during extraction and before the sear resets. Considering the end is shaped like a spearhead, this was all probably taken into consideration by Gaston himself as he designed it
>>63825803I've done something terribly wrong the day a paedo like you ever has a favourable opinion of me
>>63825756>low quality powder or just too low burn rateYeah, that's why I referred to it as sub-NATO since economy ammo usually burns slower

>>63826376>I find japanese beer to be really good with food but pretty unappealing on its own.Yeah, most of the stuff they mass produce and export is pretty bland and uninteresting.
Roughly on par with mass produced European lagers, so good enough, but far from spectacular.
I wish I could recommend a Japanese beer to you, but I can't read their moon runes, and good japanese beer is hard to find here in Euroistan.
So, if you're interested in that stuff you'll have seek recommendations elsewhere.
>>63826396Nah you're just a newfag. Just because someone who isn't likeable is doing it now doesn't change the fact that it is a long standing 4chan process.

>>63826384The PPK was meant to run on hot 7.65
Weak 32 is literally just buffalo bore 25 https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=jex9akB90Vw
Why would you not run euro spec ammo unless you have an alloy 32? Also I’ve been testing, everything up to Aguila cycles fine
Fiocchi is the best low recoil option if you’re going flat mag
>>63826412holy shit shut up you fucking loser
>>63826440Your gun now chokes on weak ammo due to fucked up spring ratios, like I said.
>>63826460German ammo of the time was about 73-77 gr and 1000 fps it’s a steel frame that was meant to run on +p by American standards https://castboolits.gunloads.com/archive/index.php/t-396856.html
Us 32 isn’t 7.65
>>63826460I mean you are right though, standard pressure underwood Leigh’s now fail to cycle but why would someone run those instead of the +p which barely reaches fiocchi energy
Similar marks shaped like keyholes appeared on CBC primers too. I wouldn't think they'd be loaded to higher pressure [burn rate] than ZSR, but the granular situation with the later might suggest so. This is pure speculation without chronograph data of course but NATO spec 9x19 would demonstrate beyond a reasonable doubt that the "primer drag" is unrelated to chamber pressure. Regrettably, I didn't bother to collect my spent M882 for documentation

Just got an Arex Z1TC for $500, reports say the grips suck and the slide catch is really stiff due to the heavy recoil spring they use, so I'm gonna swap those with Hogue and a DPM Systems recoil unit. Gonna be my new carry gun once it's all finished.

RANGE REBORT
The replacement Winchester Silvertip .22 was noticeably more accurate than anything else I had out today (CCI, Federal, Aguila). At ~160y the offhand group size was about half of everything else and I was able to hit a ~15" gong more times per mag with Silvertip than with everything else (~200rd) combined. I like it. Did have one stovepipe, picture related. Not sure if ammo related or just my thumb on the slide again.
Spoiler alert
>>63821329 the cheapo Black Sheep was not the dirtiest cheapest shit they can find like Freedom and LAX. Couldn't tell a smoke difference between it and Winchester Service Grade or Maxxtech but it is a comfy powderpuff load which I liked.
I noticed a weird aberration going on with the Prodigy's zero though. Any type of ammo, when shooting at 25y I was hitting the left third of the target. But same ammo same shooting position switching to ~160y I was hitting dirt off the right side by some feet. Some kind of bizarre Wanted bullet curving magic I can't explain. If I compensate for either with Kentucky windage it would be on at that distance but would magnify the POI shift at the other distance. I wonder if it's my eyes somehow
Oh yeah I had a great time :) I love shooting handguns

Everybody thought this meant images of the accused's genitalia, but a source from within clarified they were "web comics" featuring "humanoid animals" with "implied penetration" and that there wasn't proof of this being done intentionally as the accused claimed to have meant the images for his own phone because he had two mobile devices for some reason

I neglected to mention that the fastener held firm after more than 50 rounds but didn't use any NATO spec ammo so there's still an opportunity to loosen with vibration. >roll pins make it a huge pain in the ass to work on>magpul mags slide free easily on ejection but glock mags actually get stuck all the time unless you wrist flick the gun while ejecting>the RMR cut is functional but possibly the most shallow cut in the industry because milling is expensive>some specific tolerances. my dagger worked perfectly and took all upgrades fine except when I put in an OEM extended slide stop. this made the slide always lock back after every shot and no amount of fucking with it could fix this.
>>63839590>made the slide always lock back after every shotSafety feature for chamber inspection.
>>63839391It's fine but why buy it? If it's a first gun I wouldn't recommend it and if it's just a piece for your collection that $300 could be better spent elsewhere

>>63832334Huh. So do you think a new production Model 19 could handle .357 at the same level that a 586/686 could, or is it still not as durable?
>>63839789>if it's just a piece for your collection that $300 could be better spent elsewhereI disagree, questionable arms storag should have cheap, functional gun. Autos, second homes, perp plant guns, ect.
>>63840138If I was going to spend money with that mindset, I'd just buy duplicate versions of guns I already own so I have spare parts at worst and spare guns I'm already trained with at best
>>63839997S&W says it’s more durable and you can see the beefed up forcing cone but it’s still a smaller frame so I don’t think it’ll be as “durable” as a 686 but personally I’d rather have the model 19 if I was going to carry it
>>63839789Honestly? I think it looks cool.
>>63827302>TX-22 People keep saying that these guns will cycle anything and shoot well. Is that true, in your experience?

>>63839391The firing pins break, replace it with a glock OEM one
So now you're like $350 in on the gun, plus shipping for both and a transfer
A Ruger RXM(which in a lot of ways beats Glock) is $399 in stores and is a hell of a lot better than a Dagger
>owned 2 Daggers and many GlocksEnjoy the gun, but there's no reason for Daggers anymore when an RXM is that close on price
>>63840400I'll be honest. I would've gotten a RXM but the threaded barrel is what sold me on the Dagger. It just looks cooler. I'll keep that in mind with the firing pin.
>>63840451>threaded barrel is what sold me on the Dagger.I can understand rule of cool. Like, a Dagger does look like some sort of videogame battle pass gun.
But for sure be aware of the short comings if you ever decide to use it for self defense or concealed carry. The breaking on firing pins is relatively common, and never even in the same spots. Assuming very poor MIM process, but I don't really know
Are the Horochang SCS optics any good?
>>63840475It's wild how so many people will fling shit over companies having issues like this but PSA gets a pass
>>63840351I have "two" of em, a regular model and a Competition upper swap for the same frame.
The Competition is very reliable compared to my other .22s but I discovered there were ammo types it was not happy with, some Federal and Winchester I sent back to each company. It would get periodic stovepipes like that pic in the post you're quoting too, with any type of ammo, rare but not zero.
The older regular TX22 upper, pic rel, is AMAZINGLY reliable, it eats anything ~900 fps and faster, with and without a suppressor, and does not falter. I even took a few mags of the suspect Federal that crippled the Competition upper, and the old TX22 upper fed it 100%. I had maybe two or three malfunctions of any type (including ammo) over ~3,500 rounds. Compare to ~100 malfunctions (mostly ammo) over another 4,500 rounds from the Competition upper. Compare to ~50 malfunctions every 300 rounds from my Ruger Mark III (Tacsol Paclite upper) once it gets dirty from the suppressor. I can't even guess at how many malfunctions I get with my Beretta 21A or Walther P22. Probably somewhere between the Competition and the Ruger.
This is just my experience, there are anons who have posted here who have not had my good luck with TX22s, and there are others here who have been just as pleased.
>>63840720It's almost like price matters
>>63840351>>63840731Oh and this is with virtually no cleaning or lube on these TX22s. I cleaned each of them once over those round counts. They don't care about being dirty as hell from suppressor jizz

I have lots of firearms but have never owned a 1911. I've decided I'd like one. I want something that's a good example, high quality, shoots well. But I don't want to spend stupid money on it (no $5k firearms). Not looking for cheapest but serviceable either, I want something nice but not priced in the stratosphere. What are my best options?

Many 5k 1911s go for 2.5k-3k used. There’s a Wilson Combat 5 inch .45 on gunbroker for 1900, Bill Wilson has never let me down.

Can you guys tell if this is a gen 3 glock 17 slide or not?
>>63841140I'm not too well versed on the 1911 world, but I remember Dan Wesson being universally liked. I think Kimber and Brazilian Springfields were getting shit on for a while.
>>63841239No, but those are Heinie Gold Bead Straight 8s
>>63841253>Heinie Gold Bead Straight 8Neat, I noticed they were different from the factory plastics, but I couldn't tell what they were.
>>63841140>>63841223Seconding Dan Wesson. Their lineup has some weird 'gaps' when compared to other 1911 makers, but they also have a range of great options. The Specialist is for me the definitive quality modern 1911, especially now that they have an optics ready version. The Pointman, Valor, and Razorback are other models to look at. 9mm/10mm are the calibers of now and the future - 45 is still common but it's slowly being replaced by 9/10. Can't go wrong with any of the three though.
Springfield Armory has cheaper models in the $800-1000 range worth considering. If you're looking at their pricier models I'd personally rather have a Dan Wesson. Ruger is a reasonable choice at this price point as well.
Tisas is your cheapest likely to be reliable option.
Ed Brown would be my choice for spending more than a Dan Wesson.
I would avoid Kimber both on my personal experience and their reputation.
There are many other options, but between Ed Brown > Dan Wesson > Springfield > Tisas I think your bases are well covered unless you're want something weird and specific.

You'd think the INSANELY low deck height would be a solid W, but it's actually turning out to be a problem in more ways than one.
For one it alters the screw length requirement and even though they include over 9000 screw variants I'm going to have to modify screws to work.
For andnother, tall iron sights are pretty much right out with this thing, for me anyway. They take up too much of the window. I bet with a sufficiently low slide cut you could get a 50% true cowitness which is insane!
Still the dimensions are very implessive. Keeping clicky adjustments with a deck that low AND a battery tray, AND enclosed, is next level tech. It's a shame about the gnarly roof design, strong as it may be.
>>63841095Yeah it is and that's a problem. Good thing I didn't buy it!

I ended up following logic instead of aesthetics and bumped everything down the line, ditching the Swampbutt and leaving the HS Elite alone on the PSD.
The slightly bigger dot on the Wolf (3 MOA) will be most welcome on the Sig which I shoot most. The Wolf's low deck height was a problem on the M&P, but the huge Bull makes more sense there, as an HD gun having more forgiveness in aiming is an asset, and the boomer serif font on the optic is in keeping with the boomer serif font on the gun. I rarely shoot the Arex so whatever it gets scraps
how good are colt revolvers? i was thinking of getting a gp100, but there's a nice looking colt viper at the LGS for $979 and the gp100 i was looking at was going to be around that price for a nice stainless barrel.
