Correct. If we're going to be charitable we can say that psych meds do produce psychoactive effects, and some patients find those effects helpful. But psych meds also have negative effects, and I doubt that medicine fully appreciates the extent of these negative effects. More research always needs to be done. At the very least, patients should have a choice regarding whether they take these strong drugs.

Did you know that antipsychotic drugs can cause a condition called tardive dyskinesia? This condition causes the patient to experience involuntary movements of the face - pic related. Apparently the condition can become permanent, even if the patient stops taking antipsychotic drugs. More info here:
