The theory of "you just take energy that is already around you" is too shallow to be applied in real life.
You have huge investments in
>building labor
>material
>huge fuckton of space that needs to fit criteria
>cleaning it regularely from dust and debris
>maintenance
Not to mention it doesn't work at night so you get grid instability every single day.

t. German whose country is going eco-friendly but shops energy from France for high prices because the demand can't be met with a solar here and wind there.
