I wonder if there really are people who can't talk to themselves in their head or if it's just a misunderstanding because it's hard to describe our subjective experiences.
I suspect everyone has an inner monologue, but when "do you have an inner monologue" shows up on a survey, people disagree over what that means.
Same with the "imagine an apple" thing.
