You're missing the entire point. It's about the why.
Elise was a princess trapped by her duty and a literal god of destruction sealed inside her. She had no freedom. She saw Sonic, the literal embodiment of the wind, and was drawn to what he represents. Her desire to keep him was a desire to hold onto the freedom she never had.

Chris was a lonely rich kid. He had all the material freedom in the world but no friends. He didn't want to be like Sonic, he wanted to own Sonic. He wanted to trap the wind in his mansion to make himself feel less alone. It's a possessive, selfish attachment.
Sonic inspires Elise and ultimately frees her from her responsibility, allowing her to become free herself. She learns from his example. Chris never learns. He tries to Sonic from leaving because he can't stand to be alone. Elise is inspired by the wind. Chris wants to put it in a cage. They are not the same.
