It's introducing himself as "Matt"
Seems like the Matthew that our Heathcliff knew just never did that. Considering he was the leader of a syndicate, I can see him chastising his goons to not call him that
And why did Erlking make that misstep?
... Because the Matthew that he knew in his own world was open about using "Matt"

I agree that there can be holes punched in canto 6, but it's still my favorite canto with the best pacing
However Erlking knowing about Matt is not a problem

Heathcliff is due a T corp ID that is not associated with Wuthering Heights
