Well, "Russians", if we're talking about the native populations of all the regions of the modern state of Russia, range from the basic East Slav(similar to Ukies/Belarussians and even Poles) to Mongolians. But when someone mentions a "Russian", they generally don't mean anyone with Russian citizenship. They're referring to ethnic-Russians.
Ethnic-Russians are not a monolith. In the North, they are more ancestrally similar to Finns/Balts. In the south, they are basically 100% Eastern Slav. As for Finno-Ugrics. They're from the northern Arctic regions. They are basically Inuits/Sami. Who migrated south. And in the case of Finland, mixed with Swedes.
