The trick is to block out the colours and then hit the entire model with a single, unifying wash.

The other trick is to layer the contrasts. Putting a lighter colour over a darker one (like Skeleton Horde over Basilicanum Grey).

Although honesty it's just that Death Guard make it easy. Praise Nurgle.
