Himeno was around for 14 chapters and you don't get a single thread without her. Yoshida was around for over 120 chapters and he is still bland.
I will admit he redeemed himself in how he went out, but still, if he stook around it would not have done anything good to the plot. At least now Fujimoto will be forced to use more interesting characters.
