I wouldn't say DDO is dead, in fact the switch to 64 bit servers has finally condensed the population and there was about 4k players across the 4 servers at peak this weekend. I know that's not a lot but it's enough to keep the ancient game afloat.

I've never seen a DDO thread ever, probably because 90% of the playerbase is 50+ year old retired boomers. SSG also released a code for free Keep on the Borderlands expansion this weekend, might want to grab that while you can. They definitely need to give out more though the lag has been crazy.

The core game, like gw2, is free. If you do decide to play though keep in mind its super dated and makes gw2 look like cutting edge technology, but it definitely makes up for it in sovl and being an MMO that actually feels like you're playing DND (unlike fucking neverwinter).
