This is just to make her master look good in the papers. Ran is right in that she doesn't understand Yukari's plans, but for different reasons she let on to Aya. See, if you actually observed Yukari in any capacity you too wouldn't understand a thing, not because of some great and grand 5D masterminded plan, but because she's flying by the seat of her pants and says cryptic nonsense just to appear mysterious and keep you guessing.
The only certainty is that things will work out somehow, but you're left with no choice but grit your teeth and go along for the ride.
