It is impossible to not make frens at a con like this. Relax, it hasn't even statyed yet. You saw lots of horsrfuckers, lots of merch, and lots of plushies. You don't have to walk up to and greet everyone, take it in stride. See a dude with somrthing cool? You could go up and compliment them, but this seems more forced and artificial. It's better to take mental notes for application later.
Maybe you're waiting for an elevator, or you happen across at meetup, panel, dinner group, or whatever, THEN you can say "Hey, I saw you with that really great Glimmer plushie! Who made it?" or something to that effect.
