This + valve is waiting for solid state batteries. They want to demolish the switch 2 in price per performance and convenience. They want a nm advantage and battery advantage because this will allow them to deliver PS5 level performance on a handheld with trivial charge times.
Nintendo is locked into the switch 2 for 5-8 more years, and its age will only show more and more. 2025 was a terrible time to release a new handheld. It's right before a new era of cpus, gpus, and improvements in battery tech (solid state or squeezing more performance out of li-on).
