I'm sorry, but I think you're still missing the point, Sparky.
Even if she thought Sonic wanted a baby in Battle, it just shows that her mind immediately goes to playing house. She's blinded by her own desires and will project them onto Sonic. She jumped at the chance to be a mother because she thought it would appeal to him. Her entire motivation is still shaped by what she thinks will get him to commit.
And asking him on a date isn't the problem by itself. The problem is that it's never just a date. It's always part of the larger goal to get him to marry her. Every action she takes is a step towards that one single outcome. She isn't impeding his free will, no, but she's trying to wear him down. To get him to agree to something he otherwise wouldn't be comfortable with.
That isn't something someone who genuinely loves someone else does to them. It's unhealthy. It's obsessive. It's harmful.
I'm really not trying to twist the lyrics. They're just right there. The song says "settle our lives." That's a direct quote. It's not really open to interpretation. It means she wants a slow, settled life. That's the opposite of who he is. Framing her love as a passion is fine, but the passion is for a future that he has never once shown any interest in. It's a passion for a domestic fantasy we've only seen Amy take interest in.
And I know Amy can be compassionate and action-oriented, at times. I just think it's a shame that her entire character is built upon her romantic obsession. Everything she does, every adventure she joins, is ultimately about getting his attention. It's not a disingenuous love, it's just an unhealthy one that defines her entire being. To her detriment.
There's nothing wrong with a love interest, if that's okay to say. But she's not just a love interest. She's a character whose entire goal is to stop the main character from being himself.
