Spinel succeeded when SU was at it's peak and gave her a movie which made her FOTM, anon. While it did ignite lots of seethe and rage which was based, it eventually died down as she just wasn't posted much anymore, Peridot is much more hated because not only is she an SU character but unlike Spinel her fanbase never eroded.
Peri has the biggest reason to be hated of all, and that is her fanbase living on for so long and not dying while still managing to win the most rounds out of any SU character
