yes, there is in fact a conspiracy against them, but not for the reasons you would think. you'll find Derrick Jensen et al explored this question a while back and both confirmed and expanded the lies being told to the public about the green movement on two fronts- financial and technical, not scientific.

what this means is that there are in fact financial drivers behind the green movement, but it generally revolves around fabricating fantastic new technologies to shake money out of the pockets of gullible investors.

from a technical perspective, the one rule which actually matters in the end is whether or not a solar panel can, during its effective lifetime, produce enough power to create a replacement of itself due to wear and tear, additional solar panels for infrastructure expansion, industrial loads not related to the mining, refinement, recycling, and manufacture of solar panels, industrial agriculture, general economic use, then lastly, residential. as it stands now, the ratio is about 1,000,000 to 1 in terms of solar panels surface area needed to make another panel. 1,000,000 square meters to make 1 square meter, considering you have to use electric mining trucks, electric hauling trucks, electric furnaces, electric everything.

from a scientific perspective, everything works as advertised, its just that it has a negative energy-return-on-energy-invested, the EROI term they use. back in the easy days of petroleum extraction, it was 200 barrels extracted for 1 barrel used to power the extraction process from the ground to the gas pump. now we are looking at 5:1 EROI on oil...

end result- we are fucked in terms of energy and no amount of greenwashing will change that. you'll like Jensen's other books on this topic. he is the sophisticated thinking mans conspiracy theorist, though he wouldn't agree.
