Aoi dying should've also been a whole base event. She was their strongest defender in every metric and probably(?) one of their longest living veterans. But the focus was kept to 31A and 31B.
And it's better that way because they're who mattered to Aoi the most. It keeps the story tight and focused. We don't need to see everyone's reaction to a big event as it'll only dilute its impact.
