>Are Maretards the biggest [?] on this planet?
Given the fallout behavior I've witnessed in the past week, yes. There has been previous fallout with ACT and other plugins before, but definitely not on the level such at this. ACT is probably the only one that can be compared and even then--that drama only caused the streamers to hide their parsers on stream and the parse shamers to STFU about their garbage in-game.
Not even minutes after the announcement of Mare shutting down, you had people in all public chats going on wild sprees talking about modifications and plugins. Discussing in-length about Mare and some even arguing why it's going to cause them to unsubscribe from the game. The review-bombing on Steam really showcased that people only were sticking with the game because of that plugin and the nightclubbing scene. The Maretards were willing to ignore all of the problems this game were going thru for years, dumping $15/mo on their subscription (assuming if they weren't abusing F2P trials) for a whole different gameplay experience, and giving the developers a complete skewed view on how the game's current health.
If Square Enix cracked down on modifications hard because of these fuckers, then I don't blame them. If they want to restore the health of this game and not turn it into some gooner-infested nightclub simulator, then I'm willing to part with my plugins altogether.
